On December 1st, 2019, the first person with viral pneumonia from a novel coronavirus was identified in Wuhan China.ย By the end of the year, the novel coronavirus was identified as SARS-Coronavirus – 2019 or Covid-19.ย The situation is evolving rapidly.ย At the end of February the CDC, the US Center for disease control advised Americans to be prepared to shelter in place if necessary, to halt the spread of the disease.
On March 5th the State of Washington declared the State of Emergency in the Seattle area as 12 people in an extended care home died of the virus.ย On March 11th the governor banned public gatherings of more than 250 people to try to contain the virus.
On March 8, 2020, the North of Italy was placed under quarantine. ย Just 24 hours later the quarantine extended to the entire country. The airports were closed.ย Public transportation was suspended.ย People were ordered to stay home under penalty of imprisonment.
On March 11th the WHO declared SAR-Coronavirus-2019 a Pandemic, in concern over its global spread.
On this side of the Atlantic, New York State designated part of Newark as a quarantine zone on March 10th.ย In many places, schools and universities are suspending in-person classes because of the situation.ย ย With the rapidly evolving situation, the CDC warned that Americans should be prepared to shelter in place, self-quarantine, and be prepared for enforced quarantines.
With the announcement of the state of emergency in Seattle, there was a rush on toilet paper, face masks, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol and disposable gloves.ย Many people panicked but didn’t know what to put in their carts or even the amounts that would be prudent.ย Shortages were sudden and hit worldwide, while businesses like Costco and Grove were trying to keep essential items in stock for their customers.
30 Day Preparedness Checklist
I created this preparedness checklist because my readers were overwhelmed and confused. Many didn’t know where to start in preparing for a 30 day disruption and the possibility of needing to shelter in place.
This checklist will show you:
- How much meat, beans, fish, and poultry to stock up on, to feed your family for 1 month
- How much rice, oatmeal, and other grains you’ll need to feed your family for 30 days.
- How much olive oil and coconut oil, butter, and yogurt you’ll go through in a month
- Which supplements and herbs you should get now to support your natural immunity
- And yes, how much toilet paper you’ll need for each person for 1 month
- You’ll also have a plan for sundries like hand sanitizer, antiseptic cleaners, soap, and garbage bags.
But it’s not just a shopping list.ย I teach you the rationale behind my decision making process so you’ll be able to apply these principles to customize a shopping list based on your family’s likes, dietary preferences, allergies, and healthy eating essentials so that you can stay strong and resilient even if you need to shelter in place.
Download the 30 Day Preparedness Checklist and confidently make a list, knowing what to purchase to keep your family healthy, resilient and safe.
Be prepared.ย Not scared.
You can stop worrying now and start making your shopping list using my 30 Day Preparedness Checklist.
Start here with your 30 Day Preparedness Checklist
Download this free 10 page 30 Day Preparedness Checklist and use it to create a personal shopping plan to help you get the items that are prudent for your family, so you’ll be prepared should you need to self-quarantine for 30 days.ย This list isn’t about stocking up on freeze-dried food, emergency rations, or anything that you wouldn’t ordinarily eat.ย This isn’t Y2K.ย (remember that?)ย This isn’t preparing for nuclear war.
If you don’t end up quarantined for 30 days, during this evolving pandemic, you’ll be able to eat every part of this food, because your list will be made up of food you normally eat.
It is very likely you will have some disruption during the coronavirus scare. If not from the virus itself, then from the panic and hysteria whipped up by the media.ย I hope this list gives you peace of mind and helps you create a workable plan on time and under budget.ย A plan you can live with.
