Christmas Soap Recipes for Gifts and Kids is a great place to start learning batch creation for holiday gifts. Soaps make a great contribution to wellness baskets, gift baskets, teachers gifts, and even make great stand-alone hostess or host gifts.
I like melt and pour soaps as they are a simple and safe process, that you can involve kids in without worry. Unlike cold process soap that uses lye, melt and pour soaps are safe to handle at all stages of production. There’s no caustic ingredients, and no waiting for soap to cure. With melt and pour soaps, you can make and use the soap the same day.
Learn how to make fun and creative gifts for Christmas by learning how to make homemade soap. This simple melt and pour soap recipe is in the shape of fun gingerbread men for that festive touch. With different molds, and fragrance options like essential oils, you can make multiple varieties and types of soaps from a single melt.
There are also several varieties of melt and pour soap base to chose from. This recipe calls for a honey melt and pour, but you can use goat’s milk melt and pour base, or even an aloe vera melt and pour base for other soaps. I like doing a full day of soap making for handmade gifts, using multiple bases and multiple different essential oils, herb infusions, and natural colorants to make lots of variety in a short time, with only one clean up needed!

Don’t have to worry about biting the head off first with these gingerbread men. The sweet scents of gingerbread spices, and the cute mold, make these another great holiday soap.
Ingredients:
- 1 gingerbread man mold
- 8 ounces honey melt and pour base
- 1 tablespoon calendula, in a tea bag
- 5 drops clove essential oil
- 10 drops all-spice essential oil
- 10 drops cinnamon essential oil
- 20 drops tangerine essential oil
- Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
Directions:
- Chop the melt and pour soap on a cutting board and then set up a double boiler to melt it. It should be small cubes.
- If you don’t have a double boiler, use a glass measuring cup inside a small pot with water. Use a metal canning jar ring to keep the glass from touching the bottom of the pan.
- Place calendula tea-bag in the melting soap.
- Once soap is melted, let the herb infuse in it for 30 minutes. Maintain soap temperature at around 120F. If the temperature lowers, the soap will re-harden instead of remaining liquid. There is no need to microwave the soap base, the stove should help you keep an even heat.
- Once the soap is fully melted, add the essential oils.
- Make sure the essential oils are blended into the soap base.
- Prepare the soap mold by spritzing with rubbing alcohol. This prevents bubbles in your poured soap, and helps the soap bar slip out of the mold easily once hardened.
- Pour soap base into the prepared molds.
- Let fully harden.
Remove from mold, wrap in plastic wrap when solid. Label if desired. If you prefer to not use cling wrap, use a cellophane bag and tape shut to extend the soap’s shelf life.
Christmas Gifts Soap:
Christmas soap doesn’t have to just be this gingerbread soap recipe. There are dozens of other homemade soap recipes available. Peppermint soap is a well known Christmas variation, simply adding peppermint or mint essential oils can make a refreshing peppermint soap, with no need for other herbs or scents. Prepare a soap base in white and one in red if you want to pour striped soap like candy canes for an extra festive touch. I prefer using a clear base for colored soap, and a semi-opaque for accents like white.
Another option is using a skin-safe natural orange essential oil for an oranges soap bar. Maybe put a luffa into the mold and pour the soap over that for the extra touch. A variation of the luffa containing bar that I liked included a vanilla essential oil fragrance blend.
For a fun soap with some gold mica added, and a fun Christmas theme, you can check out this Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh soap recipe. This recipe is suitable for beginners to soapmaking, and is a super festive and fun soap to make too.
If you’re interested in pouring soap in layers, this snowflake soap recipe involves some simple layering for awesome contrast. Mostly using a clear soap base, like aloe vera soap.
You can also make a chocolate or coffee based soap. I prefer coffee, as it makes a nice gardener’s soap, and is a great idea for a wellness basket or similar gift bundle.
