Make these aromatherapy shower tablets to help infuse your daily shower with relaxing fragrance. These are simple, easy to make, and safe for all family members.
These aromatherapy shower tablets infuse your daily shower with calming rose fragrance from natural essential oils and rose hydrosol. Rose has been found to balance the emotions, relieve nervous tension, and uplift the mood. Lavender essential oil is calming and relaxing. Lemon is uplifting. A little goes a long way.
When I created these aromatherapy shower tablets I included my favorite essential oil combination. These are the ones I use when I want to feel happy, relaxed, and refreshed. You can also make your own wax tarts, for aromatherapy purposes.
These shower tablets are easy to use. Just place one in the corner of a shower stall, outside the flow of water, so that it dissolves slowly, during your shower. It doesn’t leave a stain or a ring on the tiles. When you are done just rinse it away.
Calming Aromatherapy Shower Tablets
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon rose buds, dried, powdered
- 1 teaspoon rose hips, powdered
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup Himalayan salt
- 30 drops rose absolute or rose geranium essential oil
- 30 drops lemon essential oil
- 40 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 tablespoons rose hydrosol
Directions:
Add rose buds and rosehips to a blender jar and blend till they are the consistency of coarse powder. Turn out into a 1 quart bowl. Add baking soda and salt. Stir well to blend. Add essential oils. Stir again. Add rose hydrosol. Stir to combine. Add 2 tablespoons of mixture to silicone mold or cup cake liner placed in a muffin tin. Tamp the mixture firmly into the mold using the small end of a kraut pounder or the back of a spoon. Repeat with remaining mixture. Tamp each mold to make a firm tablet.
Place molds in a 250F oven for 60 minutes. Turn off heat. Allow the oven to cool down naturally before removing the tablets. The tablets continue to dry as they cool.
Pop the shower melts out of mold. If you are using silicone molds they will pop out easily. If you used cup cake liners just remove the liners from the muffin tins. Allow the shower tablets to cool and harden completely.
Store in a jar with a tight fitting lid.
To use:
Remove the shower tablet from the paper liner. Place a naked tablet on the floor of the shower, in the front corner, outside of the direct shower stream. You want it to get wet, but not so wet that it all washes down the drain at once.
The water from the shower will slowly release the essential oils aroma into the air so that you can breathe it. It is the fragrance from the shower tab that uplifts the spirits and calms the mind.
This mixture can also be used in the bathtub.
For gift giving
Place a bow on the jar and attach the use instructions. These are a great addition to a wellness basket or spa basket for mom, your sister, or your BFF.

I think I’ve done something wrong with this recipe. The tablets have virtually no scent; in or out of the shower. I followed the directions and even used rose absolute… any thoughts?
Thank you!!!

Can u tell me what ‘rose hydrosol’ is.
Joybilee Farm says
It’s the same as rose water and is the water portion when rose essential oil is distilled. It’s much less expensive than rose essential oil (rose otto) but it still contains many of the beneficial, anti-inflammatory properties of rose essential oil.
