National Cookie Month – Cookie Recipes to fill your holiday baking needs
Don’t you love cookies? When I was a young mom with kids under 5, I used to think it was the measure of my mommy-skills to always have a full cookie jar. That was before we worried about things like phytates and anti-nutrients and before sugar was a worry. Cookies were the joy of childhood, always accompanied by cold milk in a mug. I can still remember the thrill of scraping hot, soft, triple chocolate cookies off the baking sheet and onto the cooling rack, where they crisped up as they cooled.
In October I’ve teamed up with 9 other bloggers to celebrate (Inter)national cookie month by bringing you a month of both original and time tested cookie recipes that dance around a theme. This is strategically planned to give you plenty of cookie recipes to try right before you begin your holiday baking. Each week we are giving you cookies around a theme — with one or two recipes each — more than 10 recipes each week.
Be sure to check out my cookie month partners and their amazing recipes: Jess at The 104 Homestead – Kathie at Homespun Seasonal Living – Tessa at Homestead Lady – Chris at Joybilee Farm – Sheila at Life, Love, and Good Food – Wendy at The Monday Box – Nikki at Nik Snacks – Shari at Pure Grace Farms – Angi at Schneiderpeeps – Lauren at Wicked Spatula
The following companies generously sponsored various cookie month projects. I may not have used all of them in my recipes, but this project is in no small part thanks to them and their incredible contributions: Bob’s Red Mill, The Daily Meal, India Tree, KerryGold, King Arthur Flour, Product of GIR, KaTom, SunButter & Wilton.

Giftable Butter Tart Squares
Nothing says Christmas, like the buttery, gooey, crunch of butter tarts or pecan pie. You take that first bite and feel the initial resistance against your teeth give way to smooth, honey sweetness and the crunch of pecans. The golden caramel slides across your tongue. It’s toothsome, with a slight tartness from the fruity filling, followed by the tender crumb and crunch of the pastry shell. Get the recipe.
